This one-day forum offers an opportunity for addressing knowledge and experience on human
trafficking and modern-day slavery in South Australia (SA) with particular emphasis on forced
The aim of the forum is to bring academics, service providers (such as domestic violence,
educational services, health practitioners) and other interested parties (such as law enforcement
agencies and SA MPs) together for the purpose of sharing information and establishing an
understanding of the situation of human trafficking and forced marriage in this State. It offers an
opportunity to discuss the topic of modern forms of slavery from an academic angle as well as from
a practical viewpoint of services needed and possible gaps in service delivery.
The event is organised by Flinders University with the help of Red Cross and Australian Catholic
Religious Against Trafficking in Humans (ACRATH).
